Exporters hit by quarantine export bill
16 Feb 2009

Food exporters will face fee rises for quarantine inspections from July this year under a plan to abolish quarantine export subsidies that has been accepted by the minister for agriculture Tony Burke. Thirteen industry groups, including horticulture, grain, dairy and meat industry lobby groups are writing to the minister to express their concerns over the forty per cent rise in fees for inspections of goods to markets that require inspection. Australian Horticultural Exporters Association says it will no longer be viable to export some goods to some markets that require inspections.
