Sheep stuck in Kuwait 13 Oct 2003
The boatload of 50,000-plus sheep onboard MV Cormo Express is stuck in Kuwait, where it is experiencing problems in loading about 500 tonnes of fodder. A spokesman for Federal Agriculture Minister, Warren Truss, said the problems mean the ship probably won't leave Kuwait until the middle or end of this week.
The Government is still negotiating with a number of countries to take the sheep. If that is not successful, they will go to the Cocos Islands for further testing. Once cleared of any diseases the will probably be taken to an abattoir in Albany, Western Australia.
