Sheep cleared for Middle East
5 Dec 2003

The sheep stranded by the feed contamination incident at Portland in Victoria have been given the all-clear to leave for Kuwait today. About 75,000 sheep will begin to be loaded onto the Al Shuwaikh carrier from 7am.

Simon Ramsay, Victorian Farmers' Federation livestock group president, confirmed that loading clearance had been received. Extra police were stationed in Portland last night in case there is further protest by animal liberationists over the shipment.

Herald Sun, 5/12/03, page 25.
