Pork chops up chicken, lamb

A Roy Morgan survey of fresh meat meals has found that Australians bought more fresh pork meals than fresh chicken in the December 2003 quarter. Consumers bought 28.8 million serves of fresh pork in the quarter compared with 25 million serves of fresh chicken. The amount of pork purchased increased by 22.2 per cent over the December 2002 quarter.

Lamb fell 10.2 per cent in the December 2003 quarter to 22.1 million serves, while beef accounted for 41.2 million serves of sales, or 32.7 per cent.
