New national stock agents' body planned 29 Mar 2004
A new national stock and station agents' organisation is likely to be established next month, arising out of the current Stock and Station Agents' Association which was created in 1910 and now represents more than 320 agency businesses in NSW, Victoria and South Australia.
A meeting in Sydney on April 1 will seek a vote to change the SSAA's constitution. If approved, there will be an election for a new board under the changed structure. The new board would take over after SSAA's AGM in September.
If the plan is approved, the Australian Council of Livestock Agents will be absorbed into the national structure and Andy Madigan, currently national co-ordinator for Elders Livestock Online, will head the new organisation from mid-April.
