Farmer lobby confirms Greenpeace link
8 Apr 2004

The Network of Concerned Farmers has confirmed that it gets funds from Greenpeace, which paid for the construction of NCF's web site and chaired several teleconferences with network members.

Victorian Farmers' Federation president Paul Weller said that if NCF members were genuinely concerned about farmers they would not align themselves with Greenpeace. That organisation opposes the diesel rebate for farmers, wants to see end to piggeries and many other intensive livestock industries, and would like even more than 1,500 gigalitres for the Murray, he said.

Last week, NCF's national spokeswoman Julie Newman stated that Greenpeace had nothing to do with her network. She discovered on Monday that Greenpeace had built NCF's web site.

Weekly Times, 7/4/04, page 11.
