Pork farmers face industry restructure 22 Oct 2004
The pig industry's representative body, Australian Pork Limited is formulating a restructure plan for the billion industry. APL chairman Dr Paul Higgins said key aims of the plan include doubling consumption of fresh pork, increasing pig carcase weights, and eradicating diseases. About 2,000 pork farmers sell about $3 billion in product each year.
