Feds tip funds into pork research 24 Dec 2004
Pork producers might be irritated at the adverse recommendations in the recent report of the Productivity Commission (which concluded producers needed no assistance against dumping and that profits were recovering). But the federal government will tip $28 million into a Cooperative Research Centre for the pork industry. CRC’s are specialist research centres tied to universities. The pork industry CRC will research and develop methods of reducing production costs for high-quality pork by targeting feed quality and feed conversion efficiency. It is not clear which university will host the CRC.
