Cattle breeders achieve record prices
12 Jan 2005

Cattle breeders received record prices in a number of sale categories at auctions in Victoria over the last week, with record prices for beef weaners and also a record price average for steers. The Cattle Council predicts rising incomes and booming exports for beef producers this year. The council said Australian producers should reap the benefits of weak competition in key markets, notably Japan, South Korea and the US.

Domestic prices are also expected to remain strong, the council said.
