Cattle neglected on Wiluna station
18 Feb 2005

More than 500 cattle have died and a further 2500 were abandoned without water in temperatures of 50 degrees celsius on a pastoral station near Wiluna, 1000km north-east of Perth. Other animals at risk included an unspecified number of stock horses, brumbies, camels, dogs and kangaroos. A Wiluna-based Aboriginal corporation owns the station, though management has changed several times over recent years.
