Exporters in a beef over US quota 22 Feb 2005
The federal government will establish an industry panel to determine how to allocate the 378,000 tonne export quota for Australian beef to the US. Exporters have already been negotiating through the Australian Meat Industry Council over how to share out the quota, which produces an industry brawl every three years. Exporters narrowly failed to fulfil last year’s beef quota.
