EU accreditation worth the paperwork
22 Mar 2005

Grass-fed steers raised for the European market, and stricter European accreditation for beef growers, may be worth the effort. A 320 kilogram steer sold to EU buyers fetches around $1,220 against a steer sold to the Japanese market returning $990, or a difference of more than $230 a head. EU accreditation demands more paperwork on the origin of cattle than is required for sales to Japan.
