Cattle tick deaths lead to quarantine in NSW north coast 29 Mar 2005
The NSW Department of Primary Industries has quarantined a number of properties on the state’s north coast, with confirmation that 13 head of cattle have died of suspected tick fever. The department's chief veterinarian said the deaths on a property at Old Koreelah near Woodenbong showed signs consistent with tick fever. He says the remaining 800 head of cattle on the property, along with neighbouring properties, are in quarantine while the treatment program continues. The last serious outbreak of tick fever in the State's north occurred in 2002 when deaths were reported near Kyogle.
