Recycled steel makes poor fence posts
13 Jul 2005

One Queensland fencing contractor believes fence posts made from poor quality imported steel are not worth the saving. Bernard Knight from North West Fencing Contractors which works throughout western NSW and south-western Queensland, said the cheap import “doesn't go the distance. There is a lack of uniformity in the imported posts. They're made from recycled steel, with lots of imperfections as a result. You get a huge variety in the qualities: some are as soft as anything; others so hard they twist and bend as you put them into the ground.”
