Rains slow flow of stock to abattoirs
14 Jul 2005

Most abattoirs in Queensland, Victoria, NSW and Tasmania have been either dropping days or reducing the number of animal kills, with insufficient numbers coming through the system. Coominya meatworks in south-east Queensland closed two weeks ago, while Bindaree Beef at Inverell will close on a temporary basis. Farmers have held back stock, or sold stock to other farmers seeking to fatten cattle on the better pasture following recent rains.
