Cattle prices on a roll
20 Jul 2005

Young cattle prices around Australia have surged over the last week, with the eastern young cattle indicator reaching a record high late last week. The EYCI, published by the National Livestock Reporting Service , is a seven-day rolling average of young cattle prices from 26 major saleyards in Victoria, NSW and Queensland. Last Friday, the EYCI closed at 398.5 cents a kilogram carcase weight, surpassing the previous record of 398 c/kg set in September 2004. Today, it reached 400c/kg carcase weight.
