Live sheep exports subjected to new trial 19 Aug 2005
A ban on winter live exports of pastoral sheep from Port Adelaide could be lifted. Meat & Livestock Australia has agreed to trial exports of pastoral sheep. A ban on live exports of pastoral sheep between May and October from Port Adelaide and Portland, Victoria, was enforced after the deaths of many sheep on the Cormo Express last year. It was deemed then that pastoral sheep had a higher than average mortality rate.
