Cattle and chicken won’t mix in Gippsland
23 Aug 2005

A clash of farm cultures is brewing in the South Gippsland region of Victoria. Dairy farmers are fighting the development of poultry farms in lush green rolling hills that is traditional dairy country. Neighbours of the proposed broiler sheds are upset by the smell and dust and believe the chemicals that are spread on the tonnes of waste produced in the sheds are being leached into the soil. Baw Baw shire council has so far opposed two proposed sheds.
