Graziers turned off Chowilla floodplain 26 Aug 2005
The South Australian government said graziers could no longer use the Chowilla floodplain in the Riverland district. The Robertson family has grazed sheep on the floodplain for 141 years. The Robertsons said problems with the health of the River Murray system were caused by a lack of flows and management of the flows and rising saline groundwater.
