Elders buys EG Green debts from National 6 Sep 2005
National Australia Bank has agreed to sell its $20 million loan to troubled meat processor EG Green and Sons, to Elders at face value. Elders (the agribusiness arm of Futuris, rather than Elders Rural Bank) agreed to buy the debt from the bank. NAB opted to sell the debt to Elders in preference to an alternative offer, never finalised, from a consortium that included members of the Green family. Elders is likely to submit a bid to the administrators, Ferrier Hodgson, to buy EG Green. EG Green is one of Western Australia’s largest private companies and trades as Harvey Beef.
