Beef farmers endorse rise in levy
9 Sep 2005

The beef industry marketing levy will increase from $3.50 to $5 per head of cattle sold from the beginning of next year, after producers voted to support the rise. The Department of Agriculture said 58 per cent voted in favour. However, only 9,800 voted out of approximately 80,000 eligible voters. The money raised through the industry levy is used to fund marketing and research.
