Beef imports may resume from mad cow regions
28 Sep 2005

The federal government may allow the resumption of imports of beef and beef products from countries known to be affected by mad cow disease. The government is also considering the relaxation of never-used powers to ban all beef from domestic sale if Australia recorded a single case of the brain-wasting cattle disease. A change in the domestic rules may force a review of the import regulations.
