Truck rego may increase fourfold
4 Oct 2005

The National Transport Commission wants to increase registration fees paid by some truck operators by four times. The NTC wants the annual registration fee on B-Doubles increased from $7,500 a year to $20,200; for road-trains from $8,200 to $16,000, and on triples from $8,200 to $31,000. The Livestock Transporters Association Queensland said the basis for the increase – damage to sealed roads – was weak, since 49 per cent of the time Queensland road-trains are on unsealed roads.
