Farms spring back to life in New South Wales 18 Oct 2005
Four months ago most of NSW was a dust bowl. Now there are cattle walking around in feed up to their bellies, crops jumping out of the ground in many areas, and people paying big money to restock and make the most of their grass. A steady pattern of rain fronts since June's late break have seen large swathes of country, from the Tweed to the Murray, removed from the drought list for the first time in years. The area officially drought declared in NSW fell from 77 per cent to 38 per cent in the past month, although some areas, such as New England, have been still looking for rain.
