Southern cattle farmers switch to feedlots
4 Nov 2005

The quarterly survey of Australian feedlots by the Australian Lot Feeders Association found that national feeding capacity expanded another seven per cent to 1.1 million head in just three months. Farmers in the southern cattle industry are increasingly turning to feedlots to finish their cattle. The survey reveals feedlot turn-off for the September quarter topped 691,000 head, or around 30 per cent of the national kill.
