Land clearing restricted on Tasmanian farms
5 Dec 2005

The Tasmanian government adopted a new policy that restricts farmers clearing forested land, known as the Permanent Forest Estate policy. The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association predicted its members could lose $400 million in future earnings as a result of the policy. Farmers claim they were also told by state government that land clearing would not be further restricted.
