Locusts set to hatch this week
6 Jan 2006

The next generation of locusts is due to hatch this week and the Victorian government is telling land holders to be ready to begin spraying egg beds. The pests eat grass and pasture and also the green base of cereal crops. If locust egg beds were left unchecked, the new generation could be 30 times larger than the previous one, which came into northern Victoria from NSW in late autumn.
