Warm weather brings insect plague 10 Jan 2006
A plague of house flies and other insects caused by three years of mild winters and moist soil conditions is annoying farmers and households across Australia. The Insectarium of Victoria said adult flies and larvae were surviving longer, leading to bigger populations and was disturbing proof of global warming. The removal of breeding sites such as waste and faecal material was important to control fly borne diseases such as gastroenteritis. Lacewings, praying mantis' and beetles had also moved south from Queensland with the warmer weather.
