Red meat turnaround as CSIRO diet under fire 18 Jan 2006
Spending on red meat rose to $8 billion in 2004-2005 from $5.3 billion in 1998-1999 as the industry comes back from a thirty year decline in consumption. International science journal Nature has criticised the CSIRO and its number one bestselling Total Wellbeing Diet for claiming that it is “scientifically proven.” The diet contains controversial claims about red meat and weight loss, and is based partly on research partly funded by the Meat and Livestock Association.
