SA egg producers split over industry restructuring 20 Jan 2006
Big egg producers in South Australia, including Golden Eggs, have split from the South Australian Farmers Federation’s draft industry plan and established their own association. The SAFF plan envisaged avenues for smaller producers to buy into larger farms to become more competitive. Many South Australian egg producers are culling flocks in response to the oversupply problem as well as facing costs in moving to larger cages. The SA government has ruled out compensation for industry restructuring and said there was no evidence that interstate eggs were being dumped in South Australia.
