Plantation company pays top dollar for cattle station
31 Mar 2006

Perth-based Great Southern Plantations will pay $30 million for the historic cattle station Moola Bulla near Halls Creek. The deal includes 35,000 cattle and a 660,000-hectare lease. Great Southern said it had also bought 17,000 hectares of high rainfall farming land around Australia to establish new timber plantations. WA Farmers said they were concerned that companies profiting from tax deductible activities were pushing up land prices and outbidding traditional farmers. Moola Bulla was last sold four years ago for $18 million.
