China allows Australian citrus imports
4 Apr 2006

Two new quarantine protocols signed today pave the way for exports of Australian citrus and deer products to China. Acting Agriculture Minister Senator Eric Abetz signed the protocols with China’s Quarantine Vice-Minister Li Chuanqing in Canberra. Australian citrus exports to China will be allowed. Mr Abetz said this trade could grow to $50 million per year. A protocol extending the arrangements covering Australian wheat and barley exports to China for a further three years from today was also signed. Agreement had also been reached on Australia providing fumigation training in China, and proceeding to a system of electronic certification of import permits for Australian agricultural exports.
