Abattoir workers get their jobs back
5 Apr 2006

An abattoir in Cowra in New South Wales rescinded dismissal notices to 29 employees after intervention by the Office of Workplace Service. The abattoir's owner had sacked the staff for operational reasons, which is supposed to be a lawful reason under new workplace laws. It is not clear whether the federal government believes the employer acted within the law or not.
