Queensland allows trade of NSW beef cattle 4 Jul 2006
The Queensland government said it would allow transport of beef cattle from NSW bovine johne’s disease control zones. Beef producers in BJD control zones now have an opportunity to trade restocker cattle into Queensland, an option which has not been available in the past without extensive blood testing of cattle. Current BJD control zones include the bottom half of the South Coast Rural Lands Protection Board, the southern section of the Murray and Riverina RLPB’s and Casino and Tweed Lismore RLPB’s. Eligible cattle must not have been run with dairy cattle for a five year period, they must not have grazed on land that has run adult dairy cattle in the last 12 months and eligible cattle must be identified under the National Livestock Identification Scheme.
