Consumers believe chicken is health hazard
20 Jul 2006

66 per cent of Australians mistakenly believe hormones were used to boost chicken growth says the Australian Chicken Meat Federation. Hormone treatment of birds was banned in Australia in the 1960’s. The growers association said a national survey of 1100 people showed that 79 per cent believed that chickens were treated with something to make them grow larger and 35 per cent believe that hormones in chicken meat is a health hazard.
