Goat exports to continue to rise

Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Minister Peter McGauran said today the volume and value of goat meat exports had tripled in seven years to 20,000 tonnes valued at $74 million in 2005. Despite producing only 0.3% of the world’s goat meat, Australia is the largest exporter of goat meat. The Minister was speaking at the launch of Going into Goats: Profitable Producers Best Practice Guide, a resource produced by the industry to promote best practice.
