US beef returns to Japan

Japan has lifted its six month ban on US beef imports. Meat and Livestock Australia said it was confident that Australia would be able to hold on to market share in Japan despite the ban being lifted. Japanese protocols, including a birth date for cattle, would be tough to meet for US producers and many would not bother trying to sell into Japan. The six month ban came two weeks after the previous two year ban was lifted.
