Debilitating calf disease rising in southern NSW
8 Aug 2006

Cattle producers in Southern NSW are reporting significant calving losses due to the debilitating and deadly acorn calf disease. Also referred to as crooked calf syndrome or bulldog calf disease, acorn calf disease affects the bone structure of a calf or causes the animals to be still-born. NSW Farmers said it had reports of producers losing up to 50 percent of their calves in three out of the last five years.
