Check into phantom cattle on NLIS

DAFF will oversight an independent audit of the National Livestock Identification System database. The terms of reference for the audit are to verify that the system is being operated as required under the NLIS business rules; to check that the database accurately receives, processes, stores and forwards data received by users of the system and to explore how industry sectors interact with the NLIS system. The audit will also investigate an alleged 11 million “phantom cattle”.
