Egg producers lose cost advantage

Rising grain prices are forcing up the price of eggs. Producers say they now pay 50 per cent more for grain, and this is the main variable cost in egg production. Egg producers say the cost of eggs at the farm-gate is now close to the landed price of imported eggs.
