Cost of chicken feed escalates

The Australian Chicken Meat Federation said an 80 per cent increase in grain prices was likely to drive up prices as well as cut production. Feed, mostly wheat and sorghum, makes up 60 per cent of production costs. Producers imported grain during the 2002/03 drought and may do so again.
