Beef, dairy and sugar farmers on firm ground
24 Nov 2006

Beef, dairy and sugar farmers were still saving for adverse times earlier this year while grain and sheep farmers were drawing on savings. Data from the Department of Agriculture on “farm management deposits”, a mechanism for deferring tax payments in good years on funds saved in designated accounts, show that 40 per cent of farmers have savings in such accounts.
