Cattle prices at four year low
7 Dec 2006

Cattle prices fell 27 per cent this year to the lowest in almost four years as producers reduce herd sizes and contend with higher feed prices. Animal feed prices have risen in line with the 74 per cent rise in the price of corn and a 51 per cent rise in the price of wheat. The benchmark Eastern Young Cattle Indicator, at $2.65 a kilogram is at its lowest level since February 2003.
