Fresh food prices soar
20 Dec 2006

The continuing drought is affecting prices in all parts of the food and produce sector. Dairy Australia is predicting that milk production will fall by 6.9 per cent in the 2006/07 season, which could affect the price of products like milk powder. Beef and lamb prices are expected to rise by 25 per cent in early 2007. Flour prices have jumped up 40 per cent, which will force bread prices up somewhere between 7 and 10 per cent.
