Balco plans export increase
4 Jan 2007

Hay exporter Balco Australia has announced plans to increase its export trade and has long term plans to list on the Australian Stock Exchange. The company hopes to access new markets and double its container traffic through a $4 million upgrade of its road and rail terminal at Bowmans, South Australia. Malcolm May, managing director, said Balco, which accounted for 20 per cent of Australia’s hay exports, was also involved in transporting grain, wine, lead ingots, smallgoods and fish for a number of other businesses. Balco expects to process 150,000 tonnes of hay for export to Asia as beef and dairy feed, in the 2006/07 financial year, maintaining its target turnover between $50 and $60 million.
