Demand for beef keeps prices high 29 Jan 2007
The drought has not affected the price of beef and the beef industry is benefiting from strong overseas demand. American producers continue to have limited access to the Japan and Korean markets which has created a huge demand for Australian beef and allowed Australia to nearly double its beef exports to Japan to 400,000 tonnes over the past three years. The number of feedlots has increased across the country and the local industry is at its full capacity.
