Egg prices to rise
1 Mar 2007

The price of a dozen eggs will soon rise by as much as $0.40. Australian Egg Corporation managing director James Kellaway said that a price rise for eggs was inevitable as the drought had increased the cost of grain for chickens by more than 70 per cent in the past five years. "This is a cost that we have been bearing since October last year. We have taken the brunt of it but egg producers just can't take it any more," he said.
