Record beef sale
29 Mar 2007

This week beef producers will sell a record number of store cattle as the season continues to stay dry and feed costs climb. At 10 Victorian and southern NSW store markets more than 22,000 cattle are listed for sale, which is unusually high for autumn. Elders Riverina key account manager, Ron Rutledge, said the clock was ticking on the autumn break. "We've just passed St Patrick's Day without rain and that's a key date for some people so they are selling stock," he said. "If we get to the next key date, Anzac Day, without a good rain that will be another signal for people to sell."
