Pigs get another ten years of cramped conditions
23 Apr 2007

Agricultural ministers have given Australian pig farmers until 2017 to change the conditions in which they keep breeding sows. Under the new code, length of the stalls will increase from 2 metres to 2.2 metres and remain 60 centimetres wide. Farmers will also have to reduce the amount of time sows spend in the stalls, from 16 weeks to 6 weeks.
