Desperate measures taken as no rain falls
8 May 2007

Queensland grazier Bob Morrish is desperately trying to hold on to 350 cows – the last of his breeders, which numbered 4,000 when drought started to cripple his Windorah district property. He has been forced to watch his breeding herd dwindle as he sells cows to meet the cost of agisting on other properties, feed the few that remained on his place and meeting bank repayments. "I have no problems with the bank, which is giving me the best possible run that it can," Mr Morrish said. "It cannot perform miracles and cannot keep lending me money indefinitely with no chance of return."

The Courier Mail, 08/05/2007
